Notes:

The old mediaeval church of St Edwin, now ruinous, was abandoned in 1793. The graveyard was popular with the Edinburgh resurrectionists. The bell tower, which stood until 1866, was used as a watch house and their are several caged lairs including the Calderwood enclosure which can be seen to the right of the upper photograph.

A dressed mort stone lies outside the Eldon Aisle.
