Notes:

In a photograph dated 1905 in the St Andrew’s University Library Photographic Archive, this tower in the cathedral’s graveyard perimeter wall  is labelled: “a mort safe with ivy-clad walls.” Presumably it was used as a mort house to store and protect fresh corpses.
