Student message issued March 31
I hope that you are well and looking forward to the Spring break which commences at the end of the day on Friday (2 April) - well done for all that you have achieved so far this year.
As we approach the break, I recognise that some of you may be making plans to leave your term-time residence and travel elsewhere in the UK.
Please be aware that from Friday, Scotland’s current ‘stay at home’ rule will be replaced by guidance to ‘stay local’. It is important to remember that the current, local authority-based travel restrictions will be in place for at least another three weeks, meaning that you must not travel between local authority areas without an essential reason. Be aware that going on holiday is NOT a reasonable excuse.
It remains the case that you must not travel into or out of Scotland without an essential reason. Further guidance on international travel, and between Scotland and other parts of the UK, can be found here.
If you have a reasonable excuse to leave your term-time residence, please make sure you take a Covid test before departing. Those in Aberdeen can book an appointment at the Butchart Centre on University Road.
Students who intend to return to their term-time residence after the Spring break should carefully review the Government guidelines before returning to ensure they are permitted to do so, given the possibility of new guidance emerging.
If you are permitted to return, we would strongly encourage you to get tested before travelling. More information on how you can get a test prior to returning to term-time accommodation is available here (section 2, Student accommodation/Testing)
The slight easing of restrictions as the Spring break begins is something that we can all look forward to, but I understand that this remains a challenging time for many. A range of support services can be accessed through our Wellbeing Toolkit, and most other questions can be answered using our FAQs. If your query cannot be answered there, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope you all have a relaxing Spring break.
