Yesterday's (19 December) announcements regarding Covid-19 from the UK and Scottish Governments may have impacted on the plans many of us had for this winter break.
We want to ensure that you are aware of what these mean for you and to remind you that we are here to support you over the winter break.
The existing concessions made for students to travel home before 25 December are still in place which means you can still travel home to join a household for the break.
You should check directly with your travel company to ensure that your travel arrangements have not been disrupted by this weekend’s announcements. We know for example that some countries have already banned travellers entering from the UK - including Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands - and this may also impact you if you are transferring through an airport, such as Schiphol, on the way to your final destination.
If you are planning to travel, please make sure you also look closely at the guidance for the area you are headed to for details on what you can and cannot do over this coming period.
The planned five-day relaxation of Covid rules and social mixing over the festive week has been removed and limited to Christmas Day in Scotland and most of the UK. In some areas of the UK - London and the South East of England - it has been removed altogether. You should check for the local advice in your area for what you can still do on Christmas Day as this varies in each nation in the UK.
Our support for you
Our Winter Wellbeing Toolkit provides more information on the support available over the winter break and details how to have as happy, and healthy, a festive season as possible.

We will also be regularly checking our firstname.lastname@example.org inbox over the break and you can continue to ask non-Coronavirus related questions in the usual way via our Infohub team – email@example.com
We know that this is a difficult time for everyone. Whatever your circumstances, and whether you are travelling or remaining in Aberdeen, we stand ready to provide you with advice and support, so please do not hesitate to be in touch.
