An update issued on Thursday October 15th, on managing an outbreak, campus return guidance, library hours and Safezone.
Dear Staff and Postgraduate Researchers,
Following this week’s meeting of the Campus Planning Group, please see below for the following guidance on:
- managing a Covid-19 outbreak on campus and the accompanying information you need to know
- the process to follow ahead of returning to campus
- an update on library opening hours
- advice on ensuring you are using the Safezone app effectively
Outbreak on campus
A flowchart has been produced showing the actions and notifications that must be undertaken, and the guidance to be followed, should a staff member or student be required to self-isolate. Accompanying advice for Directors, line managers and Heads of School - covering reporting procedures, medical confidentiality, test and protect data, impact of isolation on teaching, guidance and regulations, and business continuity – has also been prepared. Both can be found here.
Return to campus guidance
A flowchart has also been produced which summarises the process that should be followed for staff and PGR students returning to campus. It can be seen here.
Library opening hours
Our University Library Services continue to expand in order to provide the best possible campus experience under ongoing constraints. Study spaces available in the Sir Duncan Rice Library have now risen from 170 to 239 since reopening and our other libraries in the Taylor Building on King’s Campus and Polwarth at Foresterhill are now open at the weekend. This means that all our libraries are now available between 1pm and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Using Safezone – Don’t forget to Check-In
Check your Safezone settings now to ensure it is working correctly. The app and your phone must be set to 'always allow location'. There are two options to ensure the app will function correctly, helping us to keep you safer on campus:
After downloading the Safezone App and registering with your University email and mobile phone number, you need to manually check in each time you come on campus using the ‘check in’ button on the App Home screen. You are automatically checked out when you leave campus.
After downloading the Safezone App and registering with your University email and mobile phone number, you would have to go into your ‘Settings’ in your smartphone. Then:
- Scroll down to the Safezone App and click the arrow
- Click the Location arrow
- Select ‘Always’ rather than ‘while using the App’
- Then open the Safezone App, click the ‘Settings’ option from the top left menu
- Select the ‘Allow Automatic Check-In’ button to green
This should then enable auto check- in when in a zoned area on campus
