Student Update - 28 September 2020
I am writing to provide you with an update as to the current number of Covid-19 cases confirmed within our community.
We have been advised by NHS Grampian’s Health Protection Team that as of 10am today, 44 cases of Covid-19 have been identified within the University of Aberdeen student population or around 12,000 in Aberdeen.
The figure includes those living in University Halls of Residence and private flats and halls elsewhere.
The cases are currently not being treated as a single cluster. Investigations are ongoing and efforts are being made to identify any links between them. There is currently no evidence of spread to the wider community. Various control measures have been implemented in an effort to curb the risk of any further transmission.
We are working closely with the Health Protection Team and will be offering help and support to those required to self-isolate as a result.
Thanks for all your efforts in following guidelines and just a reminder of the Scottish Government FACTS campaign:
• Face coverings should be worn in enclosed spaces
• Avoid crowded spaces
• Clean your hands and surfaces regularly
• Two-metre distancing
• Self-isolate and book a test if you have symptoms
Finally, please do alert the University if you are self-isolating due to Covid-19. This could be because you have tested positive, have been told to do so by Test and Protect, are symptomatic and awaiting a test outcome, have recently travelled to the UK from a country that requires self-isolating, or you live with someone who is symptomatic. You can do this via our online reporting form here.
