About the Festival
The MINT Chinese Film Festival (MINT CFF) is an award-winning social enterprise and festival founded by Chinese film curator Yixiang Shirley Lin and Keswick Alhambra Cinema co-owner Dr Carol Rennie.
Located in the picturesque Lake District, this annual festival celebrates the diversity and creativity of Chinese cinema.
The 3rd edition of the MINT Chinese Film Festival will take place from 21–23 February 2025 and will feature:
• Over 30 of the best Chinese and Asian films
• Curated film programmes and screenings
• A festival gala
• Exciting UK, EU, and world premieres
• Director Q&A sessions
• An inspiring curatorial workshop

Eligibility Criteria
1. Who can apply:
Applications are open to all current University of Aberdeen students and Confucius Institute students, from any background, subject, or level of study.
2. How to apply:
Applicants should complete the online application form, including a short personal statement (200–300 words) explaining their interest in attending the festival and how the experience would align with their academic or personal goals.
3. Submission deadline:
Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 5 February 2025.
4. Award notification:
Successful applicants will be informed by Friday 7 February 2025.
5. Other requirements:
- Applicants must be enrolled with the University of Aberdeen or the Confucius Institute of the University of Aberdeen at the time of the festival.
- Students must be available to attend the festival in Keswick from 21–23 February 2025.

Terms and Conditions
• Award recipients are responsible for arranging their own travel, accommodation, and festival pass.
• Receipts for all expenses must be retained and submitted to claim reimbursement (up to the value of the award).
• Awards will only be reimbursed after proof of attendance at the festival.
• Students are expected to attend at least two days of the festival, including the curatorial workshop.
