Resound is a sound documentary and installation. For this part of the project I interviewed people in the area talking about sounds, particularly sounds which no longer exist. I found that many would become quite animated, trying hard to recreate the sounds or describe them using onomatopoeia.
In Resound I have taken portions of these interviews and placed them on top of some of the field recordings made for this website– so we get sonic memories of threshing machines accompanied by the contemporary sounds of approaching combine harvesters.
Resound was launched on Nov 8th 2005 at Kemnay Library, where it is currently available for listening on a CD/headphone facility. It is intended that it will tour a number of libraries around the area in this format.
There are also plans for the work to exist as a sound installation at the Alford Heritage Centre and the Bennachie Centre in the early part of 2006.
