To use the Gordon Soundscape you will need to have the Macromedia Flash 6 plugin installed for your browser. If you need the plugins you can get the latest Flash plugin here.

If you have pop-ups disabled in your browser, you will need to re-enable them to use this site.

When you enter the site, a browser window will open full-screen and the Gordon Soundscape will load. You will see a map with a number of pins; these represent places where recordings have been made. Click on a pin and then on the title banner which appears and another window opens with a more detailed map of the area. Click on these pins to hear the sounds and read the information on the Field Notes.

While using the site, you may have to wait a little for the sounds to load after you click on a pin. This will depend on how fast your internet connection is and also how long the sound is.

When you have finished listening to a sound. Close the small window by clicking on the crossed box at the top right hand corner.When you have finished with the site, click on the blue question mark at the top left hand corner of the screen and select QUIT.

[TIP: If you repeatedly click a button you may suddenly find lots of pages opening and everything may grind to a halt! To solve this, close your browser and start again!]
