This blog summarises the activities of my fieldwork in the Scottish borders. The fieldwork is divided in two stages. The first stage is based around a series of interviews and focus groups, and aims to: provide a categorisation of rural personal mobility profiles; elicit information regarding rural passenger information needs; provide perceptions toward mobile real time passenger information systems; and describe the technology uptake. The second stage is based around several co-design sessions and aims to design, and test a user-centred passenger information system. Expected outcomes include a user-centred passenger information system that enhances the rural passenger experience and provides business benefit to the operators.
