This course is a continuation of Human Cells and Tissues (AN2001) A detailed investigation of the cellular organisation of specific systems, such as the cardiovascular, alimentary, respiratory, urinary and reproductive systems, is made. Emphasis is placed on structure/function relationships, and clinical applications are introduced. In addition, there is an introduction to embryology, covering the foundation for the process of organogenesis. The course is ideal for students intending further study in any aspect of biological science. It, along with AN2001, would also be of benefit to those seeking careers in teaching in the biological sciences, whether at school or in higher education. The course consists of 3 lectures and 1 laboratory session per week, and is examined by a 2-hour written exam, and by continuous assessment.
