• Basketball: I used to compete for my local club AC SOURMENA at the teenage division of Greece, during the Greek glory days of basketball. In those years we managed to create a superb team that, despite being a minor local club, managed to reach into the 36 best teams of Athens. We failed to progress any further as we had to confront one of Greece's biggest clubs, Olympiakos, at the final stages. However, just a couple of months later we won the "Peace and Friendship" tournament, effectively crowning us as the champions of Southern Athens for the year 1996!

After coming to Aberdeen in 1997, I continued to play but in a rather informal fashion. One achievement was coming at 2nd place at the Aberdeen University 3-on-3 tournament in 2001.

My latest success was becoming an Oxford University Champion with St. Antony's College in 2003. This was the first time that a St. Antony's team won any intercollegiate event.

  • When you cannot find me at some local court shooting hoops, I am probably home reading modern history and international politics. I would characterize myself as what Aristotle called a "political animal", as I am very interested (and try to get involved) in Greek and international political affairs.

  • I also enjoy quality cinema. Although I do not have any objections to viewing anything that comes my way, I particularly enjoy European cinema. My favourite movie has to be "The Postman (il postino)".
