current positions

Two postdoc positions are currently available at the Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine in Lodz, Poland.

Job Reference Number: POSTDOC -2/EPITOK Assessment of DNA damage and repair mechanisms in carcinogenesis

MAIN RESEARCH FIELD: MEDICAL SCIENCES

Job summary: A postdoctoral fellowship is available to study the mechanisms of DNA damage and repair in relation to cancer development. The candidate is expected to help the host laboratory in implementation of modern in vivo and in vitro techniques in this field (e.g. using cell mutants defective in DNA repair, PCR-based assays, etc.) He/she is also expected to design and perform experiments using these techniques as well as to give lectures and seminars on mechanisms of DNA damage and repair. Candidates should be experienced in molecular biology, genetics, cell biology and familiar with working with in vitro cell cultures. High level of independence in working is guaranteed. The host laboratory is well-equipped with state-of-the art molecular biology, cell culturing, microscopy and computer analysis devices (RT-PCR, electrophoresis, laminar air flow cabins, etc.). Close contacts with the Department of Laboratory Animals provides ideal opportunities for conducting in vivo studies. The EPIMOL researchers are experienced in techniques aimed at DNA damage assessment, such as Sister Chromatid Exchange test, comet assay, micronucleus test with fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).

Job Reference Number: POSTDOC -1/EPITOK Analysis of genetic polymorphism and expression patterns of metabolizing enzymes as applied to enviromental carcinogenesis

MAIN RESEARCH FIELD: MEDICAL SCIENCES

Job summary: A postdoctoral fellowship is available to study the role of biochemical and genetic factors on cancer susceptibility in humans. Studies including biochemical, toxicological, molecular biology, genetic and epidemiological approach to investigate cancer-inducing mechanisms and risk factors, including interactions between nutrients and genes, and environment and genes. Studies will mainly focus on genetic polymorphism of xenobiotic metabolizing and antioxidant enzymes, and selenoproteins expression in implementation of in vivo and in vitro models. The fellow will participate in designing and conducting investigations as well as in analysis of analytical and questionnaire data. Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology and related field. Prior experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA/RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, RFLP-PCR, MSP-PCR, RT-PCR, etc.) is preferred. The host laboratory is well equipped with state-of-the art molecular biology equipments including thermal cyclers, Real-Time detection system, electrophoresis equipment, imaging system etc, cell culturing and computer analysis devices.
