100 species These are minute, transparent, worm-like animals, never more than 0.1cm long. The head bears complex jaws and long cilia; the body is covered with short cilia by which they move. They are hermaphrodite with cross fertilisation, and the eggs hatch into larvae which resemble the adults. They live in marine muddy sands. They are perhaps related to the free-living flatworms. |
