Research Interests
The Aberdeen Proteome Facility has a broad research remit covering a number of
biological applications in proteomics for basic and applied research. In addition to carrying out contract studies
we have specific interests in the following research areas:
- The identification and characterisation of disease specific protein markers.
- The identification of biomarkers in human urinary proteins as markers for
urinary tract disease.
- The application of proteomics to the determination of microbial and eukaryotic
cellular responses to environmental stress.
- The application of proteomics to medical microbiology with interests in antibiotic
resistance mechanisms and pathogenic determinants.
- The application of proteomics to the characterisation of post-translational
modifications of proteins, including complex patterns of cross-linking of proteins of the matrix.
- Collaboration in the COGEME research programme of the BBSRC.
These are not exclusive and we are interested in applying our expertise to other research fields.
