The diagram represents the process of adding two new isolates (A and B) to the 2D protein database. The proteins of each isolate are analysed, within a single gel run, alone and by co-electrophoresis with the proteins from HI-64443 (the reference isolate); the proteins of HI-64443 are also analysed independantly within the same gel run. The gels representing these three analytical conditions are processed for spot detection and matching using the computer software. This provides an accurate comparison of the isolate under study with HI-64443. In order to link these data with the reference 2D protein profile the protein profile derived from HI-64443 alone is matched to the reference profile.
