Narrow gaps have been cut where rivers
cut through resistant strike ridges. Large floods often cut deep
scour holes which fill with sand during smaller events. Slackwater
deposits may form in eddies off to the side of the main flow through the
gap. This image shows
these deposits on each side of the channel and a waterhole just beyond the gap.
