| Practical Research Skills:
|
Field experience:
Time spent in the field conducting glaciological fieldwork totals almost 2 years to date. Most of this time has been
in High Arctic and Antarctic locations, camping for over 3 months at a time in locations as far as 800 miles from the nearest base.

- 2007/08: Pine Island Glacier, West Antarctica: geophysical surveying; radar; seismics; DGPS measurements; shallow ice coring.
- 2004: Devon Island Ice Cap, Canada: CryoSat Cal/Val methods; meteorological measurements; shallow ice coring; snowpits; down-borehole gamma spectroscopy; ground-penetrating radar.
- 2003: Arolla & Ferpecle, Switzerland: glacier motion surveying; total station surveying; DGPS; basal drag spools; dye tracing.
- 2000 & 2001. John Evans Glacier, Ellesmere Island, Canada: dye tracing; total station & DGPS surveys; ground-penetrating radar; stream gauging; meteorological measurements; water chemistry
- 1999 & 1997. Iceland: total station surveys of glacier motion; geomorphological mapping; tephrochronology; lichenometry
