Pictures and Video

A digital camera and digital camcorder were used to collect still and moving images of the study areas. the location of the images were recorded using Garmin eMap and Omnistar GPS systems so that they could be tied into the GIS system. The GDSPDS has a searchable database of all the imagery available.

Sony DCR-TRV30 MiniDV Handycam

The Sony DCR-TRV30 MiniDV Handycam was used to capture MPEG video clips approximately 15 seconds long and 1.5 Mb in size on to an internal Sony Memory Stick. These can later be downloaded onto a computer and viewed using software such as Microsoft's Media Player

Panoramic Photography

Panormaic photos are taken by panning the camera through a horizontal circle up to 360° and taking a series of overlapping photos. Each photograph taken must overlap the previous photo by about 1/3. This will allow the photographs to be stitched together seamlessly. In the examples below, the photographs were taken using an Olympus Camedia C-840L digital camera. MGI's PhotoVista software was used to stitch the photographs together. Other software is also avaliable for this task.
