Canadian
Club (Aberdeen) is a group of Canadians
and friends of Canada in Aberdeen, an independent body working
with distinguished Canadians around the world. We offer
(i.) opportunities
for Canadians at Aberdeen to have a 'home' away from home, and
(ii.) hospitality of friendship and information
for those who are interested in Canada.
Everybody is
welcome.
Activities include, while
not limited to, regular gatherings over coffee, news discussions,
team sports, charity events, speaker series and social events locally
or in conjunction with Canadians in other parts of the UK. The list
can be endless. Innovations and suggestions are always welcome!
Some thoughts:
A wise Canadian once said, "Canada
will be a strong country when Canadians of all provinces feel at home
in all parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada belongs
to them." One such wise Canadian was no other than Pierre Elliott
Trudeau (1919-2000), Prime Minister of Canada from 1968-1984. His
vision sees a strength shared by Canadians from coast to coast to coast,
a strength which defiles distance and differences, a strength that
respects neither injustice nor prejudice, a strength that gives all
Canadians the courage to call each other neighbour and the entire
country our dear home.
