Just thought I'd bring you all up to date on what was the most successful tournament as yet for Positive Mojo. For the first time ever - we have qualified for a place in the BRITISH INDOOR NATIONALS!
I think I can speak for everyone who went to Glasgow - by saying that all three teams put in all they could and played to the best of their ability.
The C team put up honorable fights against their pool teams... unfortunately they were pooled with two of the toughest teams, resulting in some expected disappointment. But, they went from great performance to brilliant. On sunday they won 3 out of 4 games, showing patience, where patience was needed, great defense and some sweet hammers!
The B team took it upon themselves to keep title as the strongest B team in scotland. Alas it was not to be, with Glasgow's B team putting in a strong performance and eventually winning a higher ranking in the top 8. The B team managed to surprise everyone, and really shock some people from Edinburgh - by putting up a brilliant game agaist Ro Sham Bo 1 (Edinburgh). Matching point for point, the game went into sudden death at 9 - 9. Our flooding the end-zone allowed us to hold off their offense for a couple of minutes, but in the end they came out tops.
The A team... After a fairly worrying start to the tournament, where small pitch plus being caught unawares early in the morning led to Glasgow 2nd team to win 8-7... the A team rebounded quickly to win ever game from then onwards to the final. YES, they made it to the final, after once again a brilliant game against Ro Sham Bo 1. By that time Ro Sham Bo had put their act together quite significantly after the game with the B team, and gave our A team a big run for their money. Patience and absolutely brilliant defending paid off in the end, resulting in a final showdown between Far Flung 1 and Positive Mojo 1. That game got started with a bang, with each team scoring a couple of points. Then Far Flung went into overdrive and started racking up the points. Nearer the end of the game, Positive Mojo put on a brilliant defense, managing to gain a number of turn overs, but
unfortunately all a little too late.
BUT what is most important is the fact that once the A-team won against Ro Sham Bo in the semi finals, we were guaranteed a place in the British Indoor Nationals.
Thanks once again for everyone that turned up in Glasgow and helped make it a really enjoyable event. All I can say now is just...
"The Nationals.... BRING IT ON!!!"
