Images and text may only be freely downloaded and used for learning and teaching purposes within educational establishments (HE, FE and schools) for non-profit purposes only. Acceptable uses include: academic web pages, lectures, PowerPoint presentations, within computer-aided learning materials, online tutorials, tests, coursework, student presentations/projects, school reports.The user is required to acknowledge the contributor, the copyright holder and the University of Aberdeen on every use of the image(s). The user by using any image agrees to the terms and conditions of use.

Users may not use Images for commercial or for-profit purposes. Commercial for-profit use includes, textbooks, magazines, journals, other printed media that is sold for profit, web pages for commercial purposes, paid consulting work on behalf of non-profit or profit agencies.

Copyright in the Images within the ImageBank resides with the original copyright holder (e.g. the author or contributing institution). The Image author (usually the contributor) and the copyright holder must be acknowledged in any use of the Image. Such acknowledgement must be distinct and visible wherever the Image is used e.g. 'A photograph of an African elephant: Author/contributor: Dr Fred Smith, © University of Aberdeen.'

Images must not be modified beyond resizing, reducing resolution, image file format conversion, adding appropriate labels.
