Common Problems
1. Connected to wireless but can’t access any web pages except for the University of Aberdeen site?
- First, please ensure that you are entering your user id as userid@abdn.ac.uk - for example, u99abc@abdn.ac.uk.
- Make sure you have set your web browser proxy settings correctly. See our Configure your device page for guidance.
2. Can't remember your user ID and password? User ID and password not working?
- Contact the Service Desk for assistance.
3. Able to detect a strong wireless signal, but experiencing frequent disconnections?
This could be caused by a number of issues. However, in most cases, one of the following two solutions usually help.
- Please ensure that you have disabled IPv6 as instructed on page 1 of the user guides Configure a wireless connection: Mac OS X (10.5 - Leopard) - eduroam & ResNet or Configure a wireless connection: Mac OS X (Tiger) - eduroam & ResNet.
- If you have already done this, then please ensure that your Mac OS is up-to-date and that any major software updates from Apple have been installed - especially those relating to airport wireless.
