Research Interests

Her research is focussed on two areas of applied health psychology: behaviour in relation to chronic illness and behaviour in relation to chronic illness and working life. Currently her research is focussed on behaviour in relation to a specific chronic illness, urological cancer. Her programmes of work and those of her team are focused on early diagnosis and urological cancer; the management of work and working life and urological cancer and the specific information and support needs of those diagnosed with a urological cancer.

She is also involved in research into the methods and techniques used for empirical study in the social sciences. Her research is well published and she has spoken at both national and international conferences.

Over the past twelve years, she has worked with colleagues to develop knowledge and understanding of the management of challenges to health and psychological wellbeing in different contexts. These projects have taken a multi-level approach to the study of psychological wellbeing and health-related behaviour and have examined these issues at the level of the individual and the system / organisation.
