Biography

Having graduated in genetics at the University of Sheffield I worked for the CRC Paediatric and Familial Cancer Research Group at the University of Manchester, UK, on a number of studies related to familial breast cancer and childhood tumours.  I gained a MSc from the University of Manchester, with a thesis entitled 'Risk Factors for Familial Breast Cancer'.

I then joined the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU), at the University of Aberdeen, UK, as a Research Fellow. While based in HSRU I was involved in a number of systematic reviews including: clinical practice guidelines; urinary incontinence; menorrhagia; renal dialysis; diabetic retinopathy; learning curves issues when assessing new health technologies and group decision making in data monitoring committees.  During this time I became involved with the Cochrane Collaboration and took on the role of Trials Search Co-ordinator for the Cochrane Incontinence Review Group.

When Professor James N'Dow became joint Co-ordinating Editor of the Cochrane Incontinence Group the Editorial team, of which I am a part, moved to the Academic Urology Unit (AUU) within the University of Aberdeen.  Since joining AUU I have been a grant holder on a HTA funded systematic review of conservative management of stress urinary incontinence.  The Cochrane Incontinence Group now has over 60 published systematic reviews and approximately 4000 reports of trials in our Specialised Register.
