Elphinstone Fiddlers

The Elphinstone Fiddlers is a group comprising (as the name suggests) mainly of fiddlers. However, viola, cello, double bass, flute and accordion players are also most welcome as are piano accompanists.

Elphinstone Fiddlers meet between 4.30 and 5.30 pm on Wednesday afternoons. The first meeting of the session will be on Wed 30th September 2009.

The group performs at concerts and ceilidhs. It plays a variety of traditional Scottish music, ranging from Gow and Skinner to the more recent compositions of Bert Murray and Hector MacAndrew. It also plays some country dance music if required for ceilidhs. The group has access to a substantial collection of music to keep the repertoire varied and interesting.

No audition is required; you will however need to be able to read music.

The University's pages on James Scott Skinner may be of interest as may Aberdeen Strathspey & Reel Society and Banchory Strathspey & Reel Society .
