CAPPELLA NOVA & ABERDEEN SCHOLA
LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Eight singers from Cappella Nova, directed by Alan Tavener, sing renaissance polyphony from Spain and Portugal alongside the world première of two luminous new works: "He who clothed Himself with Light" and "Aurora radius" by Ivan Moody. Plainsong from the Tenebrae liturgies will be sung by the Aberdeen Schola, directed by Roger B Williams.

An evening of music with the University Concert Band, the Edinburgh Quartet playing with the University String Ensemble (Dvorak: Serenade for Strings) and the finals of the competition to find the University Scottish Musician of the Year.

DISCOVERIES XXXIII

with Alistair MacDonald (live electronics) and Pete Dowling (saxophones) featuring electroacoustic music by composers from Scotland.

The evening is divided into three parts. At 1945, the new sound installation by Bill Thompson, specifically designed for the Marischal Museum, will be launched in the south gallery.
This is followed at around 2010 by five electroacoustic pieces projected over a multi-channel loudspeaker diffusion system in the north gallery, featuring music by Kirsty Robertson, Pete Stollery, Diana Simpson, James Wyness, and Robert Dow.
The evening continues at 2115 with live electroacoustic improvisation in the north gallery from Alistair MacDonald and Pete Dowling.

TICKETS

Ticket prices are indicated for each concert. Apart from concerts held in the Music Hall, seats are unreserved. For concerts held in the Music Hall tickets are £10 ( £7.50 concession) and £7.50 ( £5.00 concession), according to seating area. Except for the concerts which are admission free, tickets are available from Aberdeen Box Office, Union Street, Aberdeen AB10 1QS (Tel: 01224 641122) or at the door of each concert until all tickets are sold.

University Music Concert Supporters Scheme

A subscription to the 10 concerts (indicated below) covered by this scheme is £32 (concession £25 ) and is available from University Music Office (Tel: 01224-272571 Email: music@abdn.ac.uk ).
