With a student population of over 50,000, Aberdeen has lots to offer in the way of entertainment and caters for all tastes in arts, culture and leisure.
There are a number of cinema multiplexes and a well-known theatre and performing venue, as well as many excellent music spots within the city for intimate gigs and full-blown shows of all music genres every night of the week. So from emerging new acts and local talent to headlining names, there's no excuse not to open up your ears, especially as many places also run comedy nights, poetry slams and spoken word events for your enjoyment.

For culture vultures, Aberdeen Art Gallery and Aberdeen Maritime Museum offer up unique attractions.
His Majesty's Theatre has received a £7.5 million refurbishment in order to offer even more to audiences. There are over 300 performances a year in His Majesty's, from ballet, opera and drama to contemporary dance, comedy and musicals.
The Music Hall has been at the heart of entertainment in the city since 1822 and the three major Scottish orchestras - The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra all have residencies there. The Music Hall stages more than 200 performances a year and acts as a community facility in the city centre for a series of exhibitions and fairs.
Aberdeen Arts Centre also has a varied programme of amateur and smaller scale professional shows.
