Computing Facilities on Campus

Computers are very much a part of student life: word-processing assignments, communicating via email and searching for information on the Internet are essential skills.

We support a variety of web and computer based resources, complementing your studies and allowing you to manage and review coursework at your pace and in your own time. Our resources include:

Free wireless internet access in University halls and across campus; a student portal through which you can view your personal details, course enrolments, accommodation fees, library loans and exam results; high specification computers distributed across campus and in halls of residence, many of which have 24-hour access; Assistive technology – a range of specialist software on all classroom PCs, and five individual occupancy Assistive Technology Booths; your own email account - 1GB for undergraduates and taught postgraduates and 2GB for research postgraduates on which to store your files.

And, you'll be relieved to hear, our IT Service Desk staff will be there to give you help whenever you need it! There is a Service Desk in the Edward Wright Building and the Sir Duncan Rice Library on the Old Aberdeen Campus and in the Polwarth Building at Foresterhill.
