W3C HTML Validation Service checks HTML documents for compliance with W3C HTML Recommended Standards (including HTML 4.0).
Webtechs HTML Validation Service This service allows you to validate entire Web pages, or smaller "bits and pieces" of HTML code. You can select whether to validate your document with the HTML 2, HTML 3, or HTML 3.2 standards, or whether to allow Netscape-specific HTML extensions (also called "Mozilla"), or Microsoft Internet Explorer extensions. The error messages produced by this service are rather difficult to understand!
A Kinder, Gentler HTML Validator validates the HTML of a Web page, and produces user-friendly explanations of any errors. It also provides the option of running weblint, which checks elements of HTML style as well as syntax.
FAL Weblint Gateway. Another site at which you can check your HTML, using weblint.
Doctor HTML is a Web page analysis tool which retrieves an HTML page, checks it for invalid hyperlinks, errors in HTML, and spelling, then reports on any problems that it finds.
Dr. Watson performs a similar set of checks to Doctor HTML above: spelling, HTML syntax, and link validation.
NetMechanic checks your entire Web site for HTML syntax and broken links.
CSSCheck is a tool for checking the validity of your Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) files.
Bobby - an HTML Compatibility Checker. This site allows you to view your Web pages as they will appear in a variety of different browser programs. It identifies potential HTML compatibility problems, and helps you to make web pages accessible to those with disabilities. It also calculates how long your page will take to download on a 14.4 kbps modem.
Web Page Backward Compatibility Viewer allows you to view your Web page as it may be seen by people with older browsers. You can selectively turn off support for more recent HTML features such as frames, background colours, font tags or scripts.
TransWeb Transparent-GIF Service provides an on-line interface for creating "transparent" colours in GIF images. Note that due to heavy use from the USA, this service is unavailable between approximately 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. GMT each day.
GIF Wizard provides an on-line image processing service. GIF images for use in Web pages can be reduced in file size dramatically with no visible loss in quality, and can be converted to the standard Netscape colour palette. Note: - as of January 1998, this service is no longer free, but requires payment by a system of tokens.
URL-Minder allows you to monitor Web pages (or other resources such as ftp or gopher sites). Once you have registered a set of pages, URL-Minder sends you e-mail whenever they change in any way. There is an advanced registration feature which allows you to customise the service further.
Lpage Guestbook Server creates a "guestbook" in which visitors to your Web pages can leave their comments. No knowledge of CGI programming is required.
FrameShop allows you to create and view Web pages containing frames, using an on-line form interface. See also TableMaker and ColorMaker by the same author.
Internet Count provides a free access counting service for Web pages. It works by counting the number of times that an icon (small picture) placed on the client's Web page is requested from the icount server. The compiled statistics (numbers of hits per day, week, and month) are accessible by clicking on the icon. No CGI programming is required.

FTP search searches for a specific file in all the major ftp archives.
