Printing: 3D
Get started with 3D printers
The 3D printing process builds a three-dimensional model based on a digital project file.
There are two types of 3D printer located in ABVenture Zone, on Floor 8 of the MacRobert Building. If you would like to use a 3D printer, please contact abventurezone@abdn.ac.uk.
- The Ultimaker 2 3D printer is suited to larger 3D prints, with a maximum print volume of 23cm x 22.5cm x 20.5cm. It prints models using reels of coloured filament.
- The ProJet 1200 3D printer is suited to smaller 3D prints requiring fine detail with a maximum print volume of 43 x 27 x 150mm.
Note: Before using a 3D printer, you will need to prepare your digital design using specialised software. Click the Guides button below to find out more.
If the printer or attached PC is faulty, please log a call with the Service Desk.
