Matthew Hay Project

The Matthew Hay Project is a landmark development for the future of teaching and learning in healthcare - putting the north-east of Scotland right at the forefront. The project will see the creation of a purpose-built centre right at the heart of the Foresterhill health campus in Aberdeen.

Professor Matthew Hay

Professor Hay (1855-1932) served as Aberdeen’s Medical Officer of Health for 35 years and chose the Foresterhill site to pioneer the integration of healthcare services, medical education and research in a single location in the city. The development of The Suttie Centre continues that spirit of pioneering education in healthcare and medicine.

The building has been named in recognition of a generous gift from local businessman, Mr Ian and Mrs Dorothy Suttie.
