All 9 of the project biogas digester’s are now up and running in Tiribogo village. The first to be installed was at the house of Mr. Kaloli Kimuli, who lives with his wife and 5 children.

members at the the site of his digester.
Before their biogas digester was installed they used firewood, collected from the local forest reserve, for their cooking. On average they used 60kg of wood per week for cooking.

Before installation could begin, Mr Kimuli and the team had to prepare a trench to house the digester.

Then, the plastic digester was placed in the trench and the various inlet and outlet pipes were connected.

Mr Kimuli has 7 hectares of land to grow crops and has 4 cows and 3 pigs, which are producing all the dung needed for his digester.

Once the digester has been "fed" with animal dung it starts to produce gas within days.
The digester at Mr. Kimuli's house fully inflated with biogas. The yellow pipe leads to the kitchen
where the gas is used for cooking.
