Millennium Development Goal on safe drinking water reaches target early
The UN announces that the aim of halving the people in the world without access to drinking water has already been met, well ahead of the 2015 headline. (As reported by the Guardian).
The Guardian reports that the UN has now announced that Millennium Development Goal seven - halving the number of people worldwide with no access to safe drinking water - has now been met.
However, the UN warns that 783 million people still have no access to clean drinking water.
