Signposting Sustainability 2010
Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th March from 10am - 3pm
Elphinstone Hall, Linklater rooms and King's Lawn
Signposting Sustainability 2010 is bigger and better than last years event, with exhibitions, interactive stalls, competitions, outside catering, games on the lawn, evening talks and more.
Have a go in the Dance zone, see whether you can drive in an environmentally friendly manner, visit our Eco-arcade games, look at the goodies our stall holders have on offer…whatever the reason you choose to come along, remember to bring your friends and colleagues! The event has been organised through collaboration with Campus Services, Sports and Exercise Team, the Fairtrade Steering Group, the Students' Association, the Careers Service, Policy Planning and Governance, and the Environment Office.

- an E-reader for sorting the lamps on the Environment Office stall in the Elphinstone reception vestibule
- an iPod nano for matching waste data with the corresponding waste stream on the Environment Office stall in the Elphinstone reception vestibule

- Edinburgh Bike Co-operative gift vouchers by participating in their cycle challenge (only on the 25th March)
- and lunch for two at Zeste for getting to grips with Fairtrade indoor curling.

Activities
There are many activities running through the duration of Signposting Sustainability 2010 including:
Tuesday 23rd March
Green Careers, from 5.30pm in Linklater rooms. Find out about green career options, finding work experience, jobs and more from professionals in environmental careers and the Careers Service. Bring lots of questions! More information is available on the Careers Service website.
Wednesday 24th March
Local Food sourcing - HubGrub will be offering food for thought ideas. All the food served at HubGrub on this day will sourced from within the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire boundaries.
CHP tour - From 12-1 meet up with the Utilities Manager, John Kingsland to take a tour of the University's Combined Heat and Power Plant based at Bedford Road. This piece of kit provides heat and power to the campus, and also goes someway to reducing our carbon dioxide emissions. The tour will start promptly and space is limited. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment. Meet John outside the Highland Yurt on King's Lawn just before 12.
So you think you can dance? - No unfortunately we don't have the judges but we do have Dance Zone antics in Linklater rooms, where you and up to 9 pals can dance on these connected mats for your chance to win a Sports Wii console while getting healthy. See the Dance Zone in action.
Thursday 25th March
Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative will be back to showcase their bikes which are available to staff under the Bike-to-work salary sacrifice scheme.

Student Programme
A student extravaganza, week full of fun activities, films, music and other experiences around the University of Aberdeen "Signposting Sustainability" event. The aim of the week is to highlight the positive solutions ready to us to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and to raise awareness of the catastrophic consequences climate chaos is already having on the world's most vulnerable people and the future threat that it poses to all of us.
