For traineeship

For traineeship

Before applying, please make sure you have read the information we have available about funding for traineeships on our webpage and signed up to our mailing list.

The application for funding is online, and straightforward.  You will be asked for personal information and information about your planned traineeship (host institution, country, provisional start and end dates).  Remember you can make a speculative application for funding if you are still waiting for your traineeship details to be confirmed or if you are still undertaking your traineeship search.

Sourcing a traineeship

Remember this is an offer of funding for an eligible traineeship. It is your responsibility to source a traineeship.

We have suggested some websites below for you to begin your traineeship search.  When considering potential opportunities, please bear in mind the funding criteria.

We also recommend visiting the University’s Careers and Employability Service. Our Careers Advisers can give support and advice with your CV, covering letter and interview skills.  You can also make use of the resources and Career Connect on their website.

What happens next?

Offer Letter

You will be notified of the outcome of your funding application in due course and successful students will receive an award offer letter.  The offer letter needs to be signed and returned by the stated deadline in order to confirm your funding.

If you have applied for funding speculatively then this funding award will be conditional, subject to you securing a traineeship which meets the eligibility criteria.  You should inform the Go Abroad Team if any details of your traineeship change eg duration, host organisation.

Pre-Departure Meeting

All students holding a funding award must watch a mandatory Pre-Departure Briefing.  These are held in April and December, and recorded versions are also available depending on when your traineeship takes place.

Funding Paperwork

All paperwork related to your traineeship will be issued to you by the Go Abroad Team in advance of your start date, with full instructions given for completion.
