A one year Masters Degree providing the essential skills and knowledge necessary for managers in today's demanding and rapidly changing business world
Reasons to apply
The MSc International Business Management degree provides the essential skills and knowledge necessary to take on management responsibility in today’s demanding and rapidly changing business world.
The programme is designed for graduates in non-business subjects, without previous managerial experience, or those with managerial experience who wish to deepen their understanding of the management process.
The programme comprises an intensive series of stimulating teaching blocks that are based on formal lectures, group discussions, case studies, role-plays, simulation exercises and project work. A key aim of the programme is to develop your ability to think logically, laterally, practically and independently so that you can operate effectively in a wide range of business roles within organisations.
The programme will equip you with a broad and up-to-date foundation of real-life knowledge about business as well as the necessary skills to put this knowledge into practice. For example, courses provide knowledge managing the marketing effort and managing and leading people within organisations. Additionally, the MSc Business Management provides you with an opportunity to go on (with some additional study) to obtain an MBA.

All courses are assessed through a portfolio of work. These portfolios are practical in nature and are designed to provide opportunities for students to demonstrate both their knowledge of theories and research and their practical ability to work effectively and efficiently.
To illustrate, the Marketing Management course requires students to complete a portfolio made up of three assessed elements:
[i] An individual Briefing Note requiring students to produce a short document for an Executive Board that sets out its product’s current market position, possible future developments and a forecast of future sales
[ii] A reflective piece requiring students to appraise the practicality of a piece of marketing theory
[iii] A group report and presentation that sets out a marketing plan for a product
The MSc International Business Management programme is delivered through traditional lectures as well as experiential learning in the form of role plays, simulations and task-focused exercises that is designed to improve the knowledge and real-life practical skills you will need as a manager.
This programme is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to take on business management roles in a wide variety of organisations. In addition to the mentoring that you will receive from the programme delivery and leadership team you will also be supported by comprehensive range of career services aimed at providing you with the tools and skills you need to progress your career.
As a graduate of the University of Aberdeen MSc International Business Management you can go on to study part-time for an MBA. The award of MBA follows the successful completion of four additional courses: Management Consultancy and Change; Project Management; Managing Distributed Teams; and Professional Practice Journal.
Typically, students would complete these additional courses whilst working over a period of 3-5 years, with the Management Consultancy and Project Management courses delivered in 1 week on-campus intensive block format and the Managing Distributed Teams and Professional Practice Journal courses delivered virtually.
