Warnings!
Password changing
Please do not use the Studentmail Change Password option to change your password. Doing so may prevent you accessing other University resources such as the Portal and MyAberdeen.
If you want to change your password, please use Password Manager. Click on the Change Password icon on any classroom computer or open a web browser and go to https://w3.abdn.ac.uk/qpm/user.
Using Skydrive
The Skydrive storage area is not backed up so only use it for files which you can easily replace (e.g. downloads). For coursework and important documents, you should always use your H:/ drive as it is backed up each night allowing accidentally deleted files to be recovered.
Policy for provision and use of Studentmail
An email account for life is available to all registered students, and Alumni, of the University of Aberdeen. Once opened, the account will remain so for life unless the user breaches;
- the University’s Conditions for Using IT Facilities (PDF)
- the Microsoft Service Agreement.
The content of an account will be automatically removed if not accessed for 180 consecutive days. If removed, an empty inbox will appear the next time the account is accessed.
Breaches of these conditions will be dealt with under the appropriate University disciplinary procedures and may, where it is alleged that an offence has occurred under any current UK or Scots law, be reported to the Police. When appropriate, the use of IT facilities may be suspended immediately, pending investigation by an authorised officer of the University.
Please note: IT Services does not provide support for Studentmail once you have graduated from the University of Aberdeen.
