Note: No jeans! People wearing jeans will be turned away from
outdoor activities and walks.
Aberdeen Lairig Club Kit List.
The kit list below shows the equipment needed on all Lairig
weekend trips. It is essential that members have all of the items shown or they
will not be allowed to participate in any outdoor activity during the trip.
Items marked * can be provided from the club storeroom depending on demand, but
you must let a committee member know what you need in advance. If you have any
queries with regard to equipment and the kit list don’t hesitate to ask a
committee member.
Essential Kit
You must take this to do outdoor activities on the trips; anyone
failing to bring the correct equipment will not be allowed out on the hill. No
kit, no trip.
- Rucksack (big enough to carry everything needed on the hill)
- Waterproof jacket
- Waterproof trousers
- Mid layer (fleece or softshell)
- Warm trousers (no jeans)
- Spare warm layer (fleece or duvet jacket)
- Hat
- Gloves/mitts (carry plenty spares in winter)
- Sturdy hillwalking boots (trainers and soft shoes are not
acceptable)
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping mat
- Headtorch
- Water bottle (at least 1 litre)
- Compass
- Map* (at least scale 1:50 000)
- Survival bag*
- Spare clothes for evening/journey home
- Food for yourself during the weekend (we normally stop at a
supermarket en route)
- (Goggles are useful but not essential for winter walking)
In addition to the above kit if you wish to climb you must
have the items listed below as an absolute minimum.
