The Communications Office is here to help you get your stories out to a wide international audience, including policy-makers and influencers, industry, prospective students, funding bodies, alumni and donors, interest groups, and the general public.
To contact the Communications Office about any of the following, call +44 (0) 1224 27 2014 or email communications@abdn.ac.uk. Out-of-hours please call the number above and you will get through to the duty communications officer.
Do you have new research findings, a funding award, a project about to start, a need for volunteers, an achievement or other human interest story about yourself, a colleague or a student? We can help get your story to your targeted audience, with all the benefits that can bring for your work.
Have you, or a colleague, or one of your students, won an award or other accolade that we can celebrate (which does not need to be directly work-related). We are very keen to publicise the academic and personal achievements and stories of our diverse international community, including in your own home media.
Are you willing to be contacted by a Communications Officer at short notice (sometimes out-of-hours) to provide expert comment on a breaking news story or other topical issue? If we do not already have your details, please do get in touch with Communications.
If you are contacted direct with a request please let Communications know. We will be able to assist and add value as appropriate. For visits to campus by senior politicians, dignitaries or other high profile figures please see VIP visits.
If you suspect that some aspect of your work may become an issue in the media, or has the potential to be misrepresented or misunderstood, please let us know. We will be happy to support and advise.
We can provide ongoing guidance and support in engaging with media, including basic tips to help you achieve the best result. We can also advise on further training and refresher courses, including broadcast interviews and engaging with the media on controversial issues.
We monitor media coverage daily and produce a report for the University Court. Our latest online coverage can be found in News, Events and Media on our website, and we can supply more information and respond to queries direct.
We have an ISDN phone line in room 154 in the University Office which is available for live and pre-recorded radio interviews during office hours.
