Marine Craft
Small Craft
Marine craft and equipment advised by the University are covered by this policy. The items covered are those owned by the Zoology department and various Clubs, eg the Boating Club.
Cover is for:
- Loss or damage to the craft/equipment by fire and/or external accidental means including malicious acts, stranding, collision and stress or weather
- Theft following forcible entry or theft of the entire vessel
- Legal liability to third parties and passengers for damage and/or injury including legal liability of persons sailing the vessel with the University’s permission
- Cover is extended to include loss of or damage to the insured craft/equipment whilst in transit by private road vehicle and/or trailer but excluding claims from bruising and scratching during such transits
Limits
- Craft/equipment are covered for the value stated on the schedule submitted to the Insurer
- Third party/ passenger injury and/or loss of or damage to third party property is limited to £500,000
- Cover is extended to include liability to and incurred by water skiers, limited to £500,000
Cruising Limits
- Inland and coastal waters of the UK - this is extended to use out with these waters, subject to prior notification to the Insurers
- Anywhere in the world (excluding Canada and the USA) in respect of inflatable dinghies and similar craft (under 18ft in length) being use for research work
Policy Excess
The excess ranges from £25 to £100, depending on the value of the property.
