The Central Timetabling Team (CTT) coordinates the delivery of the annual Teaching Timetable, using CMIS timetable software.
CTT manages room bookings for Old Aberdeen campus, while delegated responsibility is given to College of Life Sciences and Medicine Schools to manage Foresterhill campus and lab bookings.
The timetable is created between April and August following a published schedule. To plan the Timetable, CTT uses:
Throughout the planning cycle, the Central Timetabling Team welcomes discussion with Schools. Please contact roombookings@abdn.ac.uk or +44 (0) 1224 273588.
The timetable is frozen at the end of August until Advising/Freshers week. Once teaching commences, changes to the Timetable can be considered, however changes to compulsory course classes are restricted as per the Academic Quality Handbook 6.12.8.
CanDo is an online timetabling tool designed to help students and Advisers of Studies select a clash-free timetable.
CanDo is available throughout the academic year and updated periodically by the Central Timetabling Team, particularly around the start of each semester.
Further information is available from CanDo.
Students can create a personal timetable based on the courses they have registered for. The timetable can be downloaded as a PDF or via iCalendar.
CanDo links directly to the Course Catalogue which provides course information including course content, course coordinator, credits and assessment. CanDo displays the timetable for each course.
Students can access their course timetables via the Student Portal once they are a fully registered student.
Timetable information is also available to view on the Online Timetabling Suite.
To assist first year students arriving at the University, a Timetable Booklet is published, containing information about lecture times, welcome events and instructions about how to sign up for tutorials etc.
