Business Improvement Team

Pat Browne joined the University in April 2012 as the Head of Business Improvement. She is a specialist in the implementation of continuous improvement processes and in particular Lean implementation for non-manufacturing environments. She has extensive work experience in guiding and supporting parties seeking tangible benefits from change initiatives.

Marion Malcolm joined the Business Improvement Team in January 2013 on a part-time basis.  She also works as a Business Manager in the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU), bringing a wide ranging knowledge of University systems to the programme. Marion is a history graduate from the University of Aberdeen and also has an MBA from the University of Abertay Dundee.

Brian Masson joined the Business Improvement Team in January 2013 on a part-time basis. Before this, from 2008 he was with the Centre for Transport Research in the College of Physical Sciences.  Brian has over 30 years of experience in managing change in large organisations in Public, Private, Voluntary and Research sectors.  Over the past 10 years he has been involved in a number of high profile EC and Government-funded projects involving partners in 15 countries.

Brian Paterson joined the Business Improvement Team part-time in January 2013. Brian is also a member of the technical staff in the Department of Chemistry, performing teaching and research support duties since 1992. Brian is also Secretary for the University of Aberdeen Unite Group, a nominated trustee of UASLAS and a member of the University Court.

Helena Ziegler joined the Business Improvement Team in January 2013. Prior to this, she was an Assistant College Registrar in the College of Life Sciences and Medicine based at Foresterhill. Originally from Canada, Helena has worked in various roles within both the public and private sectors, notably as an international security specialist with the Canadian Government and as a Dean's assistant at the University of Toronto.
