Reach

Reach Scotland provides information, advice and guidance on applying to high demand professional courses. It is managed and delivered by five partner universities, University of Aberdeen, University of Dundee, University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow and University of St Andrews.

Reach Aberdeen is coordinated in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands by the University of Aberdeen. At Aberdeen, the project works closely with S4-6 from our target schools to support those aiming to study Medicine and Law by offering a range of on campus activities, work placements, school based workshops and mentoring opportunities.

As well as providing general advice on university and applications, Reach Aberdeen provides opportunities to get involved in subject specific activities.

 Opportunities in Medicine.
Reach Aberdeen works closely with Aim 4 Medicine- the School of Medicine’s widening participation project and the College of Life Sciences and Medicine’s outreach activities.

Working together, we offer a number of opportunities to school pupils interested in studying medicine. Including:                                

  • On campus career exploration events
  • A chance to meet current university students
  • Advice and guidance on what you need to get into medicine, and the application process
  • Advice on where to seek the experience needed to get into medicine
  • Mock interviews for interviewed applicants
  • Parents information sessions on studying medicine and the application process
    • On campus career exploration events
    • A chance to meet current law students
    • Advice and guidance on what you need to get into law, and the application process
    • School debating workshops and competitions run by the University of Aberdeen Debater
    • Law Mooting (legal debate) competitions run by the Aberdeen University Law Mooting Society
    • Mock trial workshops and legal system lectures, presented by The Aberdeen Law Project
    • Work experience placements in a number of law firms
    • Parents information sessions on studying law and the application process
