Open Day Countdown!
Tuesday, August 21st, 2007It’s less than a week to go to the University’s annual Open Day on August 28th, with 5,000 potential students and their parents expected to visit our King’s College campus.
The event is mainly for prospective students interested in coming to study at Aberdeen in September 2008, but late applicants for 2007 entry, as well as people of all ages interested in studying at the University, are also welcome.
Our Open Day website’s absolutely packed full of information about the day’s presentations, demonstrations, exhibitions and special events. Here are a few of our favourites;
Subject presentations covering everything from Accountancy and Finance to Zoology, as well as a range of other general talks and exhibitions on issues that we know are important to you, such as student finance, accommodation and careers
Live music across campus throughout the day, with the Hub playing host to two local Aberdeen bands, including an acoustic set from Steven Milne, lead singer with The Little Kicks, who played the unsigned bands’ stage at T in the Park earlier this summer
The chance to stay overnight in our student accommodation on the 27th August and attend our party in the students’ union the night before the Open Day
Discounted open-top bus tours of the city
A sneak preview of the brand new Aberdeen Radio Station (ASR)
The University’s Drama Societies, fresh from appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe, will be performing one-act plays in the amphitheatre behind Taylor Building
The annual Open Day Photo Competition, where prospective students have the chance to win a digital camera for the best snap of the day’s proceedings
The barbeque on the lawn of Zeste
The Global Challenges ‘Question-Time’ event, where students can post their questions about issues such as global warming, pollution and third world poverty to our expert panel, with a prize worth ££25 for each question selected
