  Am I eligible to apply for any prizes or awards?

During your university career you may be eligible to apply or compete for a number of awards and prizes. Most of these are detailed in the University Calendar, a copy of which you will find in the University Library. At Level 1 The Ayo Adeyeye Memorial Prize is awarded annually in June for best performance at level 1 in language and cultural studies. At Honours level, the Department awards the Pamela Bacarisse Memorial Dissertation Prize for the best student dissertation each year.

The main undergraduate scholarships to consider are:

• Carnegie scholarships
• Stevenson Exchange Scholarships (for residence abroad). The University is permitted to nominate a limited number of candidates for these scholarships (at present, three for French, three for Spanish, and two for German). The Executive Committee of the Stevenson Awards select students for interview
• Watson Scholarships

From time to time, news of other types of awards, grants, and prizes is sent to the Department and is posted on the noticeboard on Floor 2 of the Taylor Building.
