Dr. Flesher Fominaya delivers keynote address on “Arab Spring: Youth participation for the promotion of peace, human rights and fundamental freedoms” Symposium in Tunis

Dr. Cristina Flesher Fominaya delivered the keynote address for the symposium “Arab Spring: Youth participation for the promotion of peace, human rights and fundamental freedoms” in Tunis, Tunisia on August 28, 2012.

The symposium was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Tunisia, Dr. Mancef Marzouki, who gave the opening address. It was co-organized by the League of Arab States, the UNFPA, the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Tunisia, and the Youth Partnership of the European Union and the Council of Europe.

Her keynote address was titled “Social movements in Europe: how do young people create political opportunities and react to political, cultural and economic crisis?”. The event was attended by various stakeholders in youth policy from Europe, Tunisia, and the League of Arab States as well as young Arab and European activists and researchers.

The keynote address will be reproduced and made available on the web platforms of the organizers, with a more conceptual version for the European Knowledge Centre for Youth Policy (EKCYP), organized by the Council of Europe :: Directorate of Democratic Citizenship and Participation :: Department of Youth.
