John Brewer has been appointed by the Irish government to the new Irish Research Council, which is an amalgamation of all research councils under one new body. Its inaugural meeting took place in the Royal Irish Academy and was attended by the government minister for Research and Innovation. John Brewer is the Council's external representative and is one of 12 members of the Council.
