
The last available national figures for the employment destinations of sociology graduates cover the 2003 graduating cohort (see http://www.prospects.ac.uk).
The survey covered 4705 graduates from all UK universities (a response rate of 80.7% of the total who graduated in 2003).
First career destinations revealed that 64.3% were in employment, 9.3% were working and studying, 5.4% were studying for a UK higher degree, 3% for a teaching qualification and 6% were not available for employment, study or training. Only 6.2% were believed to be unemployed.
The most popular employment destinations were:
2.2% were in media and PR, 2.3% were teaching professionals and 3.2% in the police, army and other protection services.
