The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree is a five year programme in the UK. There is both a standard entry pathway and a graduate entry pathway. Applicants to the graduate entry pathway must demonstrate that their prior formal qualifications have covered relevant biomedical subjects. This allows for direct entry into year 2.
Purpose built, our Dental School is located on the Foresterhill Campus, alongside two other dental facilities; the Aberdeen Dental Education Centre, a postgraduate dental training centre with associated outreach clinics, and Argyll House, which hosts a series of dental surgeries for NHS Grampian’s salaried dental service. In addition, the Dental School recognises the crucial role of research. More information about some of the exciting projects currently ongoing can be found via the Dental Research website. 100% of our graduates have went on to find employment after graduation.
We are one of the few ancient universities in the UK however, will find that Aberdeen is uniquely well positioned as a ‘home’ for students as a lively and vibrant city with an excellent social scene and night life, as well as superb sporting opportunities providing ‘something for everyone’.
The course in Aberdeen has been designed specifically for graduates and encompasses a variety of modern educational methods for teaching and learning.
Being a dental student is hard work, but there is still time for fun! Read about some of the societies and clubs on offer and hear what some of our current students think about Aberdeen.
